Tabletop Roleplaying?
#1
There's quite a few ways to play a classic tabletop roleplaying game online, but it's more or less impossible to find a sufficient enough group to get together and play one. I was wondering if it'd be possible to get people together and maybe start a thread for finding people to play and for use while playing.

Moved because this sounds more like a plan than a suggestion. I can try to put in some features to the forum if you need them, like roll functions or whatever. What does a tabletop game need?

It was a question mostly because it's not so much a plan as something I thought would be cool to try, I'm not really entirely sure what all one would have to be frank, it might change from game to game.
There's a few options though, danny for example wants me to get into Shadowrun and Ironclaw, both are very close to Dungeons and Dragons.

Would those require like, something like a dice roll function, or..? I mean, I've never played a tabletop game before. :\

I think most use a 20 sided die yeah, but beyond that I'm not sure.

Most use both 6 sided, 8 sided, 20 sided, 100 sided and well... 10 and 12 and 14 and so on. I've played a good deal of DnD and I have the 5th edition books on file if you guys want free copies of DnD. I'd love to do a flat out furry DnD with you guys. (Or regular.) Or something of the sort.

As for die. It might be best to /roll your own sided die. 2-100. (Because rolling a 1 sided die is silly.)

I'll look into configuring that. How long are those books you were talking of?

Each one is about 300 pages. xD
One for making a character. (Has all the spells, xp needed to level, what spells you get at each level, what armor and weapons you can do for your class, and what classes and races there are.)

One for monsters. (Basically having every monster and its background.)

One for Dungeon Masters. (A guide for DMs on basically being able to DM.)

Then I have character sheets.

Ooh, alright. Could you send me those books, and like... three character sheets for reference? I've been wanting to play D&D for a while, but never really had the means.

Also, thread moved back to Suggestions & Questions.

Also also, added a new feature! Use this function to roll any number of die of any number of sides:
Code:
/roll #d#
An example would be that this command:
Code:
/roll 10 d 5
Will roll ten 5 sided die. This will be a possible result:

(2, 1, 4, 3, 2, 2, 5, 3, 4, 5) rolled on 10 5 sided die roll. Total: 31.

When you're rolling larger numbers of die, it could be best to hold it within the Out of Character code:
Code:
[ooc]/roll 100 d 200[/ooc]

That way you won't be bombarded with what would be within this OOC code:
(135, 182, 81, 157, 41, 71, 88, 45, 56, 173, 18, 27, 190, 170, 84, 60, 159, 133, 133, 32, 50, 74, 11, 166, 61, 29, 173, 92, 4, 69, 22, 73, 34, 198, 35, 130, 123, 165, 182, 159, 41, 16, 108, 100, 14, 139, 135, 10, 142, 114, 180, 80, 32, 104, 2, 91, 47, 165, 144, 2, 20, 37, 17, 73, 108, 128, 164, 199, 55, 78, 171, 189, 91, 197, 124, 95, 14, 158, 32, 95, 40, 34, 181, 155, 141, 195, 164, 178, 54, 163, 58, 65, 9, 96, 171, 139, 106, 73, 124, 8, 104, 29, 91, 140, 163, 173, 94, 66, 126, 128, 152, 116, 9, 151, 62, 113, 186, 72, 41, 142, 31, 145, 36, 10, 145, 147, 12, 133, 40, 185, 157, 26, 27, 42, 114, 120, 75, 189, 153, 59, 89, 58, 43, 35, 119, 180, 193, 176, 156, 87, 98, 136, 108, 177, 5, 145, 66, 85, 144, 154, 91, 108, 88, 77, 51, 12, 33, 125, 98, 76, 45, 121, 157, 158, 105, 121, 76, 41, 80, 37, 117, 134, 28, 70, 64, 41, 193, 158, 169, 192, 179, 7, 190, 139, 132, 83, 192, 147, 120, 184, 107, 114, 38, 14, 189, 147, 39, 124, 162, 52, 194, 51, 130, 60, 30, 77, 9, 101, 56, 91, 50, 46, 26, 137, 40, 167, 79, 115, 191, 89, 30, 72, 181, 29, 81, 185, 84, 115, 142, 189, 28, 98, 83, 1, 69, 193, 144, 187, 71, 83, 175, 170, 134, 102, 75, 121, 114, 132, 78, 177, 53, 115, 64, 118, 171, 13, 121, 9, 190, 35, 54, 26, 70, 44, 73, 18, 161, 52, 101, 28, 34, 92, 176, 36, 106, 69, 144, 107, 160, 8, 153, 55, 14, 195, 10, 2, 101, 98, 48, 89, 144, 83, 163, 38, 61, 21, 110, 117, 186, 109, 97, 89, 187, 117, 39, 175, 18, 197, 31, 62, 46, 93, 42, 197, 28, 169, 193, 195, 128, 90, 131, 32, 20, 86, 55, 106, 185, 153, 178, 166, 43, 76, 2, 169, 172, 144, 74, 195, 131, 174, 24, 111, 122, 59, 130, 5, 151, 109, 104, 71, 19, 22, 133, 180, 130, 67, 94, 116, 31, 138, 12, 75, 11, 58, 10, 178, 8, 149, 75, 193, 144, 120, 15, 5, 144, 160, 132, 175, 155, 32, 130, 196, 177, 119, 176, 23, 82, 67, 117, 2, 182, 175, 12, 176, 96, 91, 156, 73, 155, 193, 91, 150, 97, 6, 171, 145, 63, 200, 52, 121, 23, 160, 134, 111, 16, 187, 176, 98, 80, 91, 59, 153, 150, 163, 73, 181, 69, 187, 19, 150, 52, 107, 45, 79, 151, 23, 24, 171, 120, 74, 137, 40, 169, 1, 50, 140, 176, 150, 125, 199, 133, 122, 42, 35, 141, 63, 29, 120, 161, 136, 115, 101, 91, 12, 117, 117, 59, 80, 110, 106, 87, 198, 25, 36, 2, 59, 11, 57, 149, 71, 89, 171, 96, 139, 183, 54, 47, 126, 17, 92, 9, 82, 104, 56, 199, 8, 120, 95, 190, 117, 174, 158, 133, 13, 134, 85, 157, 34, 89, 165, 46, 153, 30, 108, 57, 121, 184, 183, 174, 81, 98, 107, 189, 85, 124, 116, 127, 33, 104, 47, 21, 182, 132, 116, 45, 58, 150, 74, 25, 86, 12, 93, 31, 163, 8, 102, 133, 96, 35, 109, 114, 175, 178, 35, 120, 192, 108, 144, 107, 109, 117, 72, 90, 169, 78, 23, 24, 54, 70, 3, 144, 39, 141, 2, 142, 74, 128, 48, 188, 179, 39, 19, 184, 17, 95, 125, 148, 104, 149, 98, 130, 19, 78, 95, 198, 127, 146, 120, 63, 110, 115, 175, 152, 30, 187, 116, 79, 183, 163, 102, 56, 195, 64, 190, 172, 77, 165, 74, 191, 141, 18, 109, 118, 195, 158, 57, 86, 189, 107, 187, 151, 111, 150, 71, 144, 104, 195, 25, 5, 101, 151, 151, 140, 122, 84, 171, 15, 126, 110, 82, 2, 163, 36, 24, 79, 21, 158, 44, 162, 72, 85, 185, 23, 115, 150, 18, 185, 96, 84, 147, 5, 163, 118, 127, 45, 32, 157, 78, 187, 4, 174, 18, 190, 138, 92, 77, 139, 53, 34, 125, 135, 58, 127, 184, 107, 158, 156, 156, 183, 101, 168, 145, 102, 12, 8, 110, 65, 164, 103, 1, 90, 14, 22, 174, 147, 162, 75, 125, 149, 71, 126, 116, 46, 97, 27, 165, 106, 92, 74, 60, 136, 53, 29, 45, 121, 196, 105, 38, 127, 55, 63, 113, 16, 77, 5, 164, 184, 138, 102, 70, 173, 76, 29, 149, 43, 118, 7, 123, 149, 29, 172, 49, 172, 40, 15, 103, 122, 39, 36, 18, 10, 67, 85, 147, 31, 119, 156, 163, 147, 4, 200, 197, 45, 143, 199, 111, 119, 62, 32, 87, 184, 15, 18, 85, 111, 191, 178, 135, 159, 79, 158, 31, 25, 172, 150, 186, 175, 80, 102, 180, 75, 41, 136, 32, 113, 131, 5, 89, 117, 183, 75, 4, 93, 104, 70, 197, 105, 74, 197, 124, 94, 35, 116, 126, 102, 68, 177, 90, 68, 2, 121, 183, 81, 82, 131, 197, 134, 58, 187, 35, 125, 126, 29, 121, 43, 167, 44, 75, 56, 103, 111, 62, 158, 162, 194, 84, 4, 129, 146, 191, 176, 48, 191, 10, 183, 10, 56, 72, 136, 97, 134, 72, 65, 178, 181, 141, 175, 150, 160, 100, 90, 7, 107, 6, 67, 87, 163, 2, 116, 29, 67, 131, 176, 45, 1, 77, 112, 99, 143, 8, 148, 105, 194, 13, 173, 55, 12, 71, 23, 106, 127, 40, 159, 62, 134, 5, 46, 106, 22, 68, 141, 122, 97, 95, 185, 191, 194, 51, 150, 120, 174, 6, 87, 198, 130, 25, 165, 19, 27, 73, 85, 5, 121, 56, 166, 24, 157, 1, 165, 156, 99, 33, 189, 139, 6, 140, 167, 198, 171, 43, 99, 100, 34, 145, 119, 132, 139, 153, 82, 110, 70, 120, 25, 23, 94, 102, 167, 90, 184, 184) rolled on 1000 200 sided die roll. Total: 101554.

You can also add extra amounts at the end of your roll, as so:
Code:
/roll #d#+#
An example for this would be:
Code:
/roll 12 d 5 + 7
Which would result with:
(1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 2, 1, 4, +7) rolled on 12 5 sided die +7 roll. Total: 33.

As a note: You can't cheat with this new feature, as it doesn't show you the results until after you post it officially. No preview post workaround :3 Additionally, the forum logs whenever you edit a post, so you can't modify the result after it's shown! Also note that there shouldn't be spaces between the numbers and the "d". I had to space them out because the function bypasses the Code mycode. This feature does not work in the shoutbox.

That's great! Let's see... ROLLING FOR INITIATIVE!

(5) rolled on 1 20 sided die roll. Total: 5.

(2) rolled on 1 20 sided die roll. Total: 2. (this time as a test.)
