[Pony/Slice of Life] RPN's Equestrian Adventure
#31
As the other equines approached, I scooted a bit closer to Ateren, almost pressing myself up against him as though for any sort of comfort. I was not ready to become the centre of any kind of group, so I did my best to be as unnoticeable as possible. I just held my apple close and kind of stared at them. The one with the curved horn sat across from Ateren, seeming to not notice or care of my existence while the other struck up conversation with the Pegasus. I had a feeling she noticed me, but didn't speak on such, so I was okay for now. I fluffed up my wings a bit to better hide, causing my fringe to fall over my left eye and giving me a more innocent look, almost making me appear to be a filly.

Refleur smiled slightly at the quiet Fringan mare, knowing how she felt given Refleur had entered Equestria herself, many years ago. Refleur said after a moment of silence,
" Ah that is right I have failed to mention my name to you or Madam Sapphire here. The names Refleur. Refleur Echofeather. I'm actually an explorer, charting all sort of places around the world. As of far i haven't managed to cross Equestrian borders but perhaps in this case I may finally be able to. If you are on a journey searching for ponies then I hope you do not find me rude in asking who exactly we are looking for and where exactly will we be looking."
Refleur then paused quietly studying the Fringan mare out of the corner of her eye. She seemed at best uncomfortable and at worst incredibly shy. Refleur however would address that later, it looked as if it would be rather rude to try to force conversation on the mare at the moment.

Ateren nods. "Well... due to a tragedy. I've been separated from my family and friends. So I'm looking for them. Back at home I have a town picture but that's about it. As for where? Places around and out of Equestria."

As the cloaked mare, Refleur, prodded at Ateren's past, I nuzzled a bit closer to him, as though to try and comfort him. I didn't want him to feel upset again, and this mare might not be as evasive as I was about the sensitive subject. As the mare looked to me, I moved the apple over my mouth to only make my eyes look even bigger. Maybe I could maker her think I was young?

Refleur however was smart enough to know not to prod the subject. However it took a bit of a longer silence then usual for her to respond, and she did so rather slowly,
" Ah. Well, Sir Ateren if that is the case I am glad to offer my services, free of charge. After all you are offering me passage to exotic places both in and out of Equestria... I'd be honored to count myself among your crew Sir, if you'll have me."
Refleur did not prod at all into the past of Ateren and felt it only right she did offer to help in such a situation like this. There was probably little doubt somepony with her skills might be needed in journeys across the world as not everywhere in the world was as safe as a park in Ponyville. Refleur in the silence continued her slight observations on the Fringan mare. Her eyes were abnormally big, giving her the look of a scared filly, but of course Refleur knew better then to fall for a simple perspective trick, the mare was obviously about the same age as Refleur and Refleur again smiled slightly at the mare, having met many ponies with similar dispositions throughout her travels.

Ateren gave a nod. "I'd be happy to let you come aboard. But it may be a few weeks till we actually get going. I got to test a few things with the airship to make sure it's one hundred percent safe to use." He found Jade's comfort... comforting. In just a small time span he felt comfortable with her.

Refleur nodded quietly then said again after a short pause,
" A few weeks you say? Well that will work well for me, I was actually hoping to spend a little more time here. Ponyville seems like a intriguing place indeed."
Refleur then stop for a brief moment to look to the Fringan Pegasus before deciding to at least press Ateren for her name and asked,
" I hope I am not rude in asking you Sir Ateren, who is your companion?"
Refleur motioned to Jade whom she had quietly watched nuzzle ever closer to Ateren over the course of the conversation, Refleur was half sure at this point that this had to be Ateren's special somepony or at least somepony very close to him, but certain hints in her behavior told Refleur otherwise, as it seemed Jade was simply acting out of fear of social interaction rather then nuzzling closer in the interest of romance, but Refleur of course thought to herself that she was not one to know of such things either way, she had never really maintained more than a casual acquaintanceship with ponies here in Equestria and for that matter was not well versed in the interpretation of romance anyways.

Ateren mulled over the word 'companion.' He knows the context, but makes him wonder about romance a bit. He fights back every urge to wrap a hoof around Jade, especially in public like this. "U-Uh. Well, I would rather not speak on another pony's behalf. But regardless, saying who she is should be okay. She's Jade. A kind pony that I've been talking to." He said with a light smile. He pushes the sun shades back up. To Jade, this might easily translate to her that he's feeling nervous. Although, Refleur and Sapphire might notice as well. Sapphire is meanwhile day dreaming about adventures.

I couldn't help but smile at how Ateren introduced me, but I also noticed him adjust his tinted glasses as well. I wonder what he was hiding... Regardless, now that I was identified I took a bite out of my apple, making that satisfying crack. As I chewed, I snuggled closer to Ateren, almost cuddling him now, in attempts to at least in some way ease whatever could be troubling him. As I did this, I stared at Refleur, though unintentionally. Once I realized what I was doing, I couldn't really look away without seeming even more awkward, so I attempted to keep an innocent look as I had been all this time. The other pony with the curved horn, Sapphire I assumed off the context of the conversation, Seemed to be in her own little world, which helped ease my anxiety a good bit, as neither seemed to be hostile. Though, I didn't really feel like returning to my normal posture, as Ateren was honestly pretty comfortable, even with this invasive heat.
