[Fantasy/Gore] Rift Between Realms
#21
I stared at the man for a moment, before standing at a more normal posture. I held my weapon forward, blade pointing toward me before the dry burning sound occurred and it disappeared in my hand. The glow faded from my eyes as my expression slowly faded back to its default blankness.
"So humans can be intelligent..." I said emptily. "What do you want to know?" I turned and stared at the civilian who was walking by. He seemed to just turn around and walk the other direction when he saw me. After staring at him for a moment, I concluded he was a normal human, and decided not to pursue him. I looked back to the man with the thing again. "But expect questions from me in return."

The man seemed to be patient with the four of us as we were loaded into the car. Ateren took the passenger seat while the three others took the back. One lady, her husband and a child. Ateren's breathing became uneasy. Instincts told him this was a terrible idea. The guy entered the drivers seat and started up the car. The windows were already broken and his shoes were digging into crushed glass. The seat thankfully was cleaned out of the stuff. He drove out into the street as normal... then went in a different direction. "Uh... don't mean to pry. But why are we going THIS way?"
The guy simply furrowed his eyebrows. "To get away from... her."
"W-Who?" Ateren asking leaning forward, wanting clarification. The so called hotel security man then stomps onto the accelerator. Making a loud rubber screeching sound as the vehicle zooms past Lunas and heads away from the action.

Before Lunas can even finish turning around he's startled by the car rushing by as fast as he can and flinches, instinctively sidestepping to the left, putting his hand on the brick wall of the building he nearly smacks into, yelling a few colorful obsceneties quite loudly.
He shouted out of mostly a quick spurt of anger. He's not really sure what that was about, or what's happening up here. He leans down to pick up a lighter he dropped out of his pocket.

I smile, finally getting somewhere with her. "Fair enough." I reply. This can turn out to be a useful ally. "Alright, First off why are you tensed about this.. thing? What is truly going on here. I was assigned to patrol and make sure the city was secure, but this isn't what they told me. There's something special about this city isn't there." I keep track of my surroundings, even though she's perhaps on my side now. I begin to notice small things about her, how her eyes glisten a bit. Just as I was going to notice more, I see yet another civilian and a car zooming past us, though it didn't phase me. I let out a sigh. "Civilians. Just a few explosions and they think it's the end of the world."

I let out a soft sigh.
"You humans are willing to wave around anything without knowing what it is," I said, my tone condescending. "That thing holds plasma - the only overworldly substance that can harm demons. This city holds the weakest stitching to the--" I was cut off as I sensed heat, and a lot of it. I stared past the man and saw it coming from a car. Four humans, and... oh God. My eyes began glowing as I stared at it. It swerved to the left, and sped off. My expression grew a disgusted frown. "Listen here," I said in a more commanding tone. "Look after that civilian - he was almost hit. If you see someone acting out of the ordinary and feel unordinary heat, point that thing at them but don't fire it. If they run, let them and remember what they look like and where they went. If they get hostile, shoot their legs and only their legs. If they explode, then run for your fucking life." Afterward, I darted after the car. A dry burning sound echoed through the street as my sickle formed once more. I'm not going to let this one go -- it has four victims!

Lunas overheard all of that.
Kind of blinks and stares at the weapon-toting man in front of him.
He's not sure what the deal is with that lady and the car, and he has no idea what she's talking about with explosions and demons.
Lunas doesn't walk away this time, sort of confused.

Ateren looked around slightly frantic. "Wha! Hey! Slow down!" He said shouting at the guy. The hotel guardsman looks in the rear view mirror. He takes a deep breath then curses loudly. "Looks like I'm going to have to make this quick." He makes a sharp turn left and Ateren did his best to hold on. Being next to a car door without a window and seat belt was rather uncomfortable. He knew by now things weren't going to end well. He debated messing with the driver but that could end up crashing the car. He saw the gauge quickly rise to 70 mph. The speed limit was 35... "This is my stop." He said as he popped his door opened and hopped out. Rolling along the street with his hands over his face.

"You're crazy!" If he wasn't awake before, he was now. He looks ahead... his heart dropped. This car was about to run into a gas station! The other three in the back were screaming for help and he wondered what the hell was going on. His adrenaline spiked. Time slowed... he had two choices. The wheel... or the emergency break. The car slowly inched to the pumps and any significant damage and rupture would cause fire at best... explosions at worst. Would the break be enough to stop it in time? Or could he go the safe route and redirect the car wheel closer to him, causing it to crash into the convenience store instead. Time ticked.

The car screeched as he picked the safer choice. He caused the car to barrel through the front door and windows of the gas station's convenience store. Slowing down and stopping at a halt against the wall. The air bag deployed and it came to an abrupt stop. Thankfully it slowed down when going through the inside of the store, but it still was jarring. The air bag began to deflate after a while and Ateren's ears were ringing. He groggily looked around. "H-Hey. Are... are you three alright?" He said calling to the back. ...Crap. There weren't any airbags for the back. He didn't get an answer... he got worried. Were they dead or knocked out? The guard ran through the front entrance with a pocket knife brandished. Hoping to finish the job perhaps?

Ateren opened the door then stumbled out of the car. He brandishes his trusty hammer. His ears still ringing and practically seeing double. He wonders if he received a concussion of any kind despite the air bag.

I quickly get into my Hummer and follow her as I assets the situation. "Alright, so demons are actually real. And apparently she's one of them. Guess I found my new partner." Not long after I arrive at a wreckage. Damn, it was bad, but luckily no explosion. As I was going to get out, I see- crap, I never got her name. Oh well, regardless I see her, the civilian from earlier and a security guard. This was one way of having a Standoff. I stay in my Hummer and wait for the next move. Whatever it is, hope that we can save the civilians in time.

As I chased the car, I noticed the victims were panicking, yelling at each other and really just in general. Human fear is a strong sense, I've come to realize in my time here. The car then took a sharp turn to the left. Fuck! At this rate, I'd completely miss the turn! Well, must suck for the corner store. I held my sickle out to the left, and jammed it through the windows of the corner store that the turn was on, using the momentum to swing to the left while shattering the windows and deforming the corner of the corner store. My eyes glowed as I saw what he was heading for: a gas station. As the car barrelled down the street toward it, I saw the "human" jump out, suffering many scrapes and bruises in the process. There would be no way I could stop the car without losing him... it would have to be a choice I'd have to make. Save them, or let it go? Before I could fully decide, I saw the car suddenly swerve to the right, crashing into the convenience store attached to the gas station. Well, that's it for them, I guess. The "human" stood back up, and went to the crash site, taking out a pocket knife. Why? I looked to the station once more, and... are they alive?

I slowed to a stop as I approached behind the "human". I held the sickle in hand, staring at his back.
"You would do anything to stay in that shell, won't you?" I asked emptily. I did not expect an answer. "Using detonation for thermal energy is low, even for you. There are other ways to get to B-Class." I held my weapon in an attack position. "Too bad you won't get that chance." Just then, I heard-- that fucking Hummer. He didn't listen! UGH. I'll deal with him later. I have a C-Class to banish. I saw a man on the other side of the C-Class. He was wielding a hammer, but he seemed really uncentred. Probably a concussion from the airbag? Wait, was he the cause of the swerve? I'd have to press that matter later.

His ears rang some more but eventually lessened a bit. He saw help had arrived... at least he thought it was help. The C-Class turned to see she caught up. "Just bugger off!" He looked at Ateren. "Besides! I have a hostage!" he said taking one of the passengers from the car. The girl looked knocked out and the child began to cry, trying to wake her dad up. Ateren still had adrenaline pumping but he spun the hammer in his hand and threw it at the legs of the C-Class. As the C-Class was bent over trying to situate the hostage in front of him... ended up falling flat on his back. "Gah!" He said he lost grip of the mother, losing his leverage just as quickly as he got it.

Ateren snapped his fingers in a light victory pose. He quickly ran and tried to get the father and child away from the scene. "Don't gruh... w-worry!" He said just before his ears rang again. He was suddenly getting pretty darn sleepy as he set the father against the side wall well away from the car. It was up to the ones that arrived to help to take care of the assailant.
